Amazon will be upping the ante when it comes to cloud storage, as the company has announced that it would revamping its cloud storage service called Cloud Drive. The company is launching two new storage plans that will offer unlimited storage for photos for $11.99 a year and unlimited storage for everything for $59.99 a year. “Most people have a lifetime of birthdays, vacations, holidays, and everyday moments stored across numerous devices. The plans will allow you to automatically upload endless amounts of new content, in either the Unlimited Photos Plan or Unlimited Everything Plan and only pay one flat fee per year.

Unlimited Cloud Storage will let users get either unlimited photo storage or “unlimited everything” — covering all kinds of media from videos and music through to PDF documents — respectively for $11.99 or $59.99 per year. The only drawback, as it is with many Amazon-branded services, is that at the moment you have to be an Amazon Prime member in order to benefit from the feature. Customers that wish to securely store their existing content collections and automatically upload photos, videos, movies, music, and files will have the option to choose between two.

The move is a clear attempt by Amazon to compete against the likes of Dropbox, Google, Microsoft and the many more in the crowded market for cloud-based storage services. Dropbox, for example, offers unlimited storage as part of Dropbox for Business, Google also aims unlimited options currently at specific verticals, and Microsoft offers it for those who subscribe to Office 365. That means that you will be able to send your videos, photos, music, documents, games, APKs, exes or anything else you can think of straight to the cloud.

As more and more users are gravitating towards the cloud, companies are thinking about integrating such features into their apps and services, which will ultimately lead to a very different user interface for any kind of smart device in the future. Still, the pricing is rather enticing and Amazon is aiming at new customers rather than trying to convert customers from other cloud storage services with this one.
