Another Day, Another Sony Xperia Z5 Leak.

The Sony Xperia Z5 takes this year’s title of worst-kept secret in tech with a slew of leaks that pretty much reveal Sony’s entire product lineup, slated to be unveiled at this year’s IFA trade show in Berlin. Sony may be making headlines with its push into drones, but the Japanese company’s Android smartphones are still what command a loyal following and get many fans excited. Over the weekend, word got out that Sony’s about to launch three Z5 phones: The flagship Xperia Z5, a smaller model named Xperia Z5 Compact, and an ultra-high-end device called the Xperia Z5 Premium.

Last week, leaked renders of Microsoft’s upcoming flagship Lumia phones for its Windows 10 mobile launch surfaced, and today it’s Sony’s turn to take the spotlight (again) thanks to a leaked video interview uploaded Sunday (in French). Sony isn’t kidding around with that 4K spec — we’re talking 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, the highest resolution ever seen on a smartphone, but also probably a significant battery hog. While none of this has been officially confirmed by Sony, we have a pretty good idea what to expect on Sept. 2, when the company is scheduled to reveal new smartphones.

It will be headlined by several prominent companies, including Sony, which is hosting a press event on Wednesday and will likely have its next-gen Xperia lineup on display. While the company at one time believed that it would drive a significant portion of its business on mobile devices, the division has buckled under the pressure of major competitors, including Apple and Samsung. In July, Sony announced that its Mobile & Communications division, which includes the sale of smartphones, saw revenue tumble 16.3 percent year-over-year to $2.3 billion, and posted an operating loss of $188 million. The company also hasn’t ruled out the possibility of selling its mobile business, but for now, says it wants to resurrect it and bring it back to profitability.
