Apple (AAPL) Marks November 11 Launch Date For iPad Pro, Pencil and Smart Keyboard

Adobe updates Fix and Photoshop Mix ahead of iPad Pro release.

The two apps now offer Adobe’s new multi-tasking feature – Split View – on iPads, enabling both to be open at the same time, side-by-side. Apple has been teasing the November launch of the iPad Pro and its accessories, the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard, since September, but hasn’t officially narrowed down that release window.

The website attributed a number of sources, who confirmed that the 12.9-inch Apple Inc tablet will be available on the second Wednesday of November both online, and in Apple retail stores. The apps will also be able to handle larger images, although Adobe did not give specifics, and will have “basic” Apple Pencil functions for the new stylus. According to 9to5Mac, which is usually accurate when it comes to Apple’s product launch announcements, Apple is gearing up to sell its 12.9-inch tablet on Veterans Day.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) introduced the tablet at its September event, where the company announced the very first Apple-branded stylus in the form of Apple Pencil. But with a larger size comes a bigger price; the Pro is Apple’s most expensive iPad ever, starting at $799 for a 32GB Wi-Fi model and running all the way up to $1079 for a 128GB version with LTE built in.

Going against what the late Steve Jobs thought about the stylus, Apple decided that the larger iPad Pro needed such a device, as well as a Smart Keyboard. The Smart Keyboard costs an additional $169, and the Pencil will sell for $99. iPad Pro will launch both in-store and online on the November 11th date, per 9to5Mac’s report. We won’t have much indication of how many Pros Apple sells this holiday season until the end of January, when the company reports its first-quarter earnings.

As pointed out by Apple Insider though, the Veterans Day holiday in the US falls on Wednesday, November 11, which would again go against an Apple trend – the company usually launches its products on a Tuesday or a Friday, and tends to avoid launching products on national holidays (understandably so!). Running on 4GB of RAM and powered by Apple’s new A9X System-on-Chip processor (which might be the subject of a a patent infringement lawsuit), the new tablet will certainly push the boundaries between tablet and laptop. After all, Apple does not want to replicate Samsung Galaxy Note 5’s stylus flaw which permanently damaged the stylus’s holding mechanism when wrongly inserted.

Going for the 128GB LTE-compatible model could bring the price up to $1,347, making it a hefty investment for a tablet before taking into account additional purchases such as warranties and apps. Apple devices do not appear to have any shortage of takers, but it will be interesting to see which iPad Pro model users lean more towards when Apple finally launches its latest tablet.
