Apple enlists Stephen Curry and Jamie Foxx to make it look cooler

Apple just put out a couple of new iPhone ads featuring Jamie Foxx and Siri.

The Golden State Warriors guard and reigning league MVP showed up in a new Apple ad posted on Sunday showing off his well known shooting skills while demonstrating the slow motion playback abilities of the iPhone 6S.This weekend, Apple posted a handful of new advertisements for its recently launched iPhone 6s (and 6s Plus) handsets online, showcasing improvements to both Siri and the built-in Camera application.

In addition to the Curry appearance, the clip also features demonstrations of the smartphone’s improved 12MP iSight camera and new Live Photos feature. Well, first of all, Apple’s two new Siri ads (once again starring Jamie Foxx) highlight how users no longer need to press the Home button in order to activate the virtual personal assistant on the 6s handsets. This time, Foxx is paired with Siri, alternately flirting with the digital assist in “Crush,” and then using the software to choose a script using Siri’s “flip a coin” feature (which has been around for several years). The feature, which was added in iOS 9 and is available for the two new iPhones only, makes it possible to call on Siri using the “Hey Siri” command even when the device isn’t connected to power (though, as we noted recently, there are a few factors to be aware of).

The new star-driven series of commercials not only helps Apple tout its latest mobile wares, but also reminds competitors that the company is still on top, and has the celebrity support to prove it. It’s around a minute long, and goes through a series of new features added to the Camera application: Live Photos, support for 4K video, peek gestures, and more all make appearances in the advertisement. They’re more about getting users used to talking with Siri hands-free, now possible thanks to the new iPhones’ M9 motion coprocessor technology that allows Siri to always be ready to chat without ever significantly draining your battery life.
