Apple Back To School Sale launches in Apple Stores.

NEW YORK—Apple is giving away a pair of Beats headphones as part of a Back to School promotion tied to sales of new Macintosh computers. Grab your pair of Apple’s Beats Solo2 headphones for free by purchasing a Mac device through the education pricing program but only if you’re a student or teacher in the US or Canada Apple’s “back to school” deal is finally here according to The Verge, the deal is solely for those students and teachers who purchase the Apple MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Mac Pro and iMac from the Cupertino tech giants education pricing program. Only qualified education individuals are eligible for the promotion, which Apple defines as higher education students, parents and employees, or K-12 employees, board members and officers.

Unlike last year where the company offered credit, Apple is providing customers with a free Beats Solo2 On-Ear wired headphones with the purchase of an iMac, MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro or Mac Pro, with the Mac Mini and refurbished Macs being exempt from this deal. That means teachers or administrators and other employees at a public or private K-12 school, or employees, students or parents of a student at a higher-education institution. Once the purchase has been made (having met the eligibility criteria), Apple will apply a $199.95 credit on your account which can be used to purchase the Solo2 headphones. By giving away Beats headphones instead, Apple is not-so-subtly drawing attention to its recently launched Apple Music streaming service, which largely leverages the previously launched Beat Music subscription service.
