Apple iOS 9: New Features And How To Use Them

Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus both sold out on Apple’s online store.

In a press release, the Cupertino, California giant notes that iOS 9 is the fastest iOS adoption ever, with more than 50 per cent of devices already using iOS 9.2.

Apple released the latest version of its mobile operating system last Wednesday, making this the fastest adoption rate ever, the company said in a statement.Apple’s new iOS 9 platform is already running on an impressive number of iOS devices right out of the gate, but the operating system isn’t entirely free of flaws. Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Philip Schiller, said “iOS 9 is also off to an amazing start, on pace to be downloaded by more users than any other software release in Apple’s history.” The Apple software comes with new features and improvements, including battery enhancements, separate folder for selfies, split-screen mode for iPads, added security, and much more. Both models will also be available on the same day from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, additional carriers and select Apple authorised re-sellers.

The smaller model is issuing a delivery date of between 1-2 weeks away, while the bigger 6s plus won’t make it to your door step for another 3-4 weeks. Certain bugs can affect its performance, and older devices might not be as fast on iOS 9 as you’d expect – in fact, a thorough video comparison between all iPhone models that can run iOS 9 showed that the new OS is slightly slower than the iOS 8.4.1, though it does show significant gains when it comes to Wi-Fi speed and browsing. Apple has yet to confirm when the new phones will be available in the UAE, although industry sources had suggested that the UAE release will be in October. However, as per earlier reports, users faced difficulties while upgrading their devices to the newer iOS 9 initially, an issue linked to overloading of servers.

This is no different to last year where those who weren’t lucky enough to pre-order or get in early when they came on sale were stuck waiting up to two months for their new phone. Beginning 26 September, customers will be able to visit to reserve their iPhone for pick-up at their local Apple Store, based on availability. When the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were first able to be ordered in September last year, many sales reps from all three big carriers were telling customers that their phones were in stock, only to later be told that it will be coming in two weeks. However, since the feature also happens to be one of the main new capabilities in iOS 9, some users might want to keep it on, particularly if they’re Siri fans.

In the event that none of this helps, then there’s a more radical approach to fixing the problem, and that’s downgrading to iOS 8.4.1 while it’s still possible, Then you can wait for Apple to release its next iOS 9.x build that’s likely to improve the performance of its new mobile OS.
