Apple announces record iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus sales; India launch on October 16.

More than 13 million phones were sold during the first three days of availability, Apple said on Monday, shattering statistics set by last year’s models. “Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement. “Customers’ feedback is incredible, and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we can’t wait to bring iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9,” Mr. The new devices — revamped versions of last year’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus — were unveiled at a much-hyped product launch in San Francisco earlier this month during which the company also debuted upgrades to its iPad, Apple Watch and Apple TV lines. The new iPhones feature better (12-megapixel) cameras, more power a multi-touch interface called ‘3D Touch’, which senses how deeply you press the screen and lets you complete tasks based on that. Cupertino, California-based Apple Inc. says the phones will be available in 40 additional countries beginning Oct. 9 including Italy, Mexico, Russia, Spain and Taiwan.
