Apple launches Smart Battery case for iPhone 6 and 6s.

The case also extends the devices’ battery life up to 18 hours for Internet use on LTE networks and up to 20 hours for video playback, according to Apple’s online store. “With the Smart Battery Case on, the intelligent battery status is displayed on the iPhone Lock screen and in Notification Center, so you know exactly how much charge you have left,” the tech giant explained. iPhone battery life has been an issue for lots of users for a long time, so Apple moved to change that by unveiling their first native battery case to boost its life cycle. The case spells good news for users desperate to extend their battery life but unwilling to purchase Apple’s large-screen iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus, which offer up to 24 hours of 3G talk time.

The intentions were pure, however the design perhaps wasn’t, and the odd-shaped case has quickly united everyone in one thing – making jokes about how it looks. Putting the comments aside, iPhone 6 and 6s owners could see a real boost in performance from using the case – with the added battery enabling up to 25 hours of talk time, as well as longer audio and video playback times.

The case is made from the same soft silicone that is used on Apple’s other own first-party device cases, though this one does come with what the firm calls a “soft elastomer hinge design” at the top to make putting the case on and taking it off a smoother process.
