AppleCare Protection Plan for Apple TV.

The fourth-generation Apple TV is now on sale, with first deliveries arriving on doorsteps Oct. 30. For up to two years from the original purchase date of your Apple TV, you get direct, one-stop access to Apple’s award-winning telephone technical support and repair coverage. We did an in-depth hands-on over the weekend, concluding that the system finally has a shot at truly becoming the “hub of the connected home.” Tim Cook revealed last week that pre-orders for the Apple TV will begin today, with the devices expected to ship by the end of the week.

It’s far more powerful than the previous version, and is now powered by Apple’s A8 processor (as seen in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus) and comes with a new operating system called tvOS, as well as its own App Store, which will also contain games. Apple is offering free shipping for delivery between Nov. 2 and Nov. 4, and in an unusual twist, next-day shipping is $17—but the delivery window is Oct. 30-Nov. 3.

The new Apple TV doesn’t look a whole lot different from its predecessor—which is also still available to purchase for $69—but the hockey puck-shaped set-top box has tons of new features under the hood. AppleCare Protection Plan benefits are in addition to a consumer’s right to a free-of-charge repair or replacement, by the seller, of goods which do not conform with the contract of sale. Customers in the U.S. who preorder now will likely get the device delivered to their doors within three to five business days, regardless of which version they choose. The streaming player comes with the redesigned remote, power cables, and an Apple Lightning cable, but you’ll need to use or buy your own HDMI cable (Apple offers one as a $19 add-on at checkout—about $15 more than what it’d cost you on Amazon).

It will reportedly start showing up in retail stores the first week of November—the same week it should arrive if you order today with standard shipping. If you lose the remote, replacements cost $79. iMore notes that only one Siri remote can be paired to an Apple TV, so don’t expect to buy several remotes for the ultimate multiplayer gaming experience. It’s been several years since the company updated its TV box, and CEO Tim Cook has promised a revolutionary new device that will lead the world into the future of television.
