Apple Watch to Be Sold at Best Buy.

More than 100 Best Buy locations will have the Apple Watch starting on Aug. 7, the Richfield, Minnesota-based company said in a statement Sunday. An additional 200 stores will get the device by the holiday season, and Best Buy’s e-commerce site will offer it as well. “The Apple Watch is an important addition to an emerging product category, and we know our customers want it,” Jason Bonfig, Best Buy’s senior category officer, said in the statement. “We are excited to bring Apple Watch to more consumers, especially with the holidays coming up.” The article claimed that “math doesn’t lie,” and based on Apple’s first quarter sales, “there is no way Apple, Inc sold over 4 million Apple Watches.” But there is a way. The company said it limited Watch’s distribution because it received more orders than expected and it wanted to prioritize customers who ordered it early.

This should go without saying, but since we are showcasing $30 bands for a $350-and-up watch, the quality on these bands is nowhere near that of Apple’s own accessories. However, with the Watch unavailable in stores, Apple didn’t benefit from long lines of enthusiastic fans waiting to buy a new Apple product on the day it became available.

The Best Buy partner will be interesting because Apple has placed a huge amount of emphasis on the retail experience, as we found when we visited the Apple Store for a preview back in April. Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook said last week during its earnings announcements that the Watch was off to a strong start and was selling better than the company expected – although Apple didn’t say how many it had sold or what its projections were. This brings up a point that The Motley Fool made in their article, which is how much was sold and when is “what we don’t know,” and what we do know, is based on opinion.

Apple’s site notes that “the grooves in each case are precision engineered and CNC machined to ensure a perfect fit with any band.” Needless to say, cheap knock-off bands were not built with the same level of craftsmanship. Cook also said a report that claimed Watch sales were slowing was “absolutely false.” He said sales picked up in June once people could buy the Watch in Apple stores and that Apple planned to increase the number of locations where consumers could buy the product.

He said Watch was available at only 680 locations globally as of the end of June, compared to about 220,000 locations for the iPhone. “We’re very bullish on the Watch being one of the key, top holiday gifts and want to have it in more places than we currently have it,” he said in an interview. As a cheap way to accessorize and differentiate your Apple Watch, we believe budget-minded consumers will be generally satisfied with this level of quality. As part of its push to position the Watch as fashion accessory, Apple has made units available in a handful of high-end boutiques and department stores including Colette in Paris, Dover Street Market in London and Tokyo, and Selfridges in London. The CNET review, explains how Apple Watch has “a lot of promise.” This goes to show that despite the fact that the device is underwhelming, anticipation for the promised updates would make people want to buy.

Oittm’s milanese loop-style band features a stainless steel mesh design similar to Apple’s own milanese loop, but it uses a more traditional clasp rather than magnets. Ottim’s stainless steel folding clasp band is reminiscent of any stainless steel link band that you’ve ever seen, and is available in silver, black, rose gold, and gold color options.
