BlueStacks 2 Released, Lets You Run Android Apps on Windows 10 with Multitasking.

BlueStacks has been around for a while as the best way to run Android applications on Windows computers, but a recent update not only makes this a lot easier but has also introduced new features that significantly improve the experience on a desktop. Now the company’s App Player has become surprisingly popular, with more than 109 million downloads of the BlueStacks player, which is used to engage with a billion apps per month.

First and foremost, BlueStacks 2 now comes with a revised interface that looks fresh and modern and gives you better control over installed apps, while also letting you download new ones faster. “App Player now acts more akin to a Browser interface, allowing users to play multiple apps at once. In order to commemorate this achievement, the company has launched BlueStacks 2 which is essentially a Mobile Gaming platform that tries to blend in the functionalities of Mobile, TV and PC. With BlueStacks 2, players will now have options to marry gameplay and app discovery. “When we started, mobile apps, with their crisp resolution looked and sounded gorgeous on PC and TV. The growth says a lot about the popularity of Google’s Android operating system and its apps, which people want to play on devices such as TVs and PCs. The original features still remain available, so BlueStacks comes with camera integration, Windows native graphics support, microphone support, quick access to simply double-click an APK on the desktop and launch the app, virtual sensors, and developer test support.

Once someone discovers apps on PC or TV they tend to use them across all of their devices, giving the BlueStacks platform powerful reach for developers.” said BlueStacks Product Manager, Shashi Kant Sharma. Probably the best thing is that BlueStacks works on pretty much all Windows versions out there, so if you’re still on Windows XP, for example, or if you’ve already upgraded to Windows 10, the app will still work smoothly on your computer. At least 2 GB of RAM and 4 GB of storage space are, however, required because, in many cases, applications might require additional system resources to run properly.

And of course, it’s completely free, so if you still can’t decide if it’s worth a shot or not, just download BluetStacks 2 and see what it’s up to. The player lets people run most of the millions of apps (about 96 percent of them) and games (86 percent) available on the Google Play Store — on their computer. It started making money via advertisements and later also made money via in-app purchases on its publishing platform. “I’ve watched this company come up as Android has come up over the years,” said Tim Bajarin, an analyst and president of Creative Strategies. “Both have exceeded almost everyone’s expectations.” Campbell, Calif.-based BlueStacks also launched its Gamepop micro-console, which lets people play Android games on a TV, in 2012.
