First 8K TV screen to be put on sale by Sharp in October

Sharp’s 8K TV Will Set You Back Only $133,000. 8K, also called Super Hi-Vision, packs a resolution of 7,680 pixels by 4,320 pixels — equivalent to 16 times that of today’s high-definition TVs, and the picture has to be seen to be believed. Despite a relative lack of 4K content, Sharp has introduced an 8K, 85-inch monster that will cost around $133,000 when it goes on sale at the end of October. Sharp announces a 5.5-inch IGZO display with 4K resolution. There’s little question Sharp’s small ultra-high resolution IGZO displays will wind up in smartphones someday; the size fits snugly with increasingly popular phablet devices like the iPhone 6 Plus.
