Advanced cyberspying tool dates from 2008: Researchers. SAN FRANCISCO: Computer security firm Symantec said it uncovered stealthy software wielded as part of a years-long spying campaign, most likely by a nation state. “Regin is a highly complex threat which has been used in systematic data collection or intelligence gathering campaigns,” the Silicon Valley-based computer security firm said in a paper detailing the threat. “The development and operation of this malware would have required a significant investment of time and resources, indicating that a nation state is responsible.” Regin was found mainly in 10 countries, but more than half of infections discovered were in Russia and ...

A Russian website has been found to be hosting hundreds of feeds of live footage from inside UK homes and businesses, which have been accessed by hacking into people’s webcams, which includes CCTV cameras and baby monitors.The website, reportedly maintained by Russians, but registered to an offshore Australian territory, shows listings of 500 webcam feeds in the UK, as well as 4,591 in the US, 2,059 in France and 1,576 in the Netherlands.
