CNN Will Live Stream Democratic Debate in Virtual Reality.

Have you ever thought to yourself in the middle of a presidential debate, “Wow, this would be so much better if I were watching it in 3D on a phone two inches from my eyes”?CNN and NextVR will make history on October 13th by hosting the first-ever live stream of a news event in virtual reality, giving viewers a front-row seat to CNN’s 2016 election debates.CNN and NextVR quietly captured the last Republican debate and have made that debate available on demand — but the Oct. 13 stream will be available live. The network is partnering with virtual reality technology platform NextVR to stream the CNN Democratic Presidential Debate live, in full 3D immersive virtual reality, from Las Vegas, NV.

Yes, because who would pass up the chance to feel like you’re really there with Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley, and… and… the rest. Viewing a clip from that event in VR, Jason Abbruzzese at Mashable found that the experience is immersive, but the video quality is still low enough that the candidates’ faces were “pretty indistinguishable.” Bonnie Kristian From radio broadcasting to televising to today, virtual reality allows viewers the opportunity to experience these historic political events through their own lens.
