Got an iPhone 6s or 6s Plus? Do these 10 things first

Teardown Confirms Smaller iPhone 6s Battery.

The new smartphone—available today—is packed with features, including an improved Touch ID home button, 5-megapixel FaceTime HD camera, and Retina HD display with 3D Touch. In an iFixit first, before digging into the new device, the company used its (er, Creative Electron’s) X-ray vision to take a peek at the iPhone’s innards (below).

Scavenging further, the teardown revealed the new 3D Touch display assembly, opposite the home button, which, absent of solder or adhesive, should be an easy DIY fix. “So far, no real evidence of any chip responsible for the ‘faster and better than ever’ Touch ID, but hey, if Apple said so it must be true,” iFixit said. But be careful when shoving your charger or headphone plug in. “While the Lightning cable assembly is a fine example of engineering efficiency, it doesn’t bode well for repairs,” iFixit said. “A single broken component means the whole cable will need to be replaced.” Overall, the iPhone 6s earned a hearty seven-out-of-10 on the company’s repairability scale, thanks in part to simple display and battery removal.
