‘Halo Online’ Confirmed, Closed Beta Only In Russia.

343 Studios very recently announced , a free-to-play multiplayer shooter coming exclusively to the PC. is said to come out this spring with a closed beta starting “very soon”.343 Industries today announced that a new Halo title is in the works, called Halo Online, but it’s a pretty puzzling game announcement for a couple of reasons. Not only is Halo Online a free-to-play title – marking the franchises’ entry into the free-to-play arena, but it’s also a PC exclusive and will only be releasing in Russia for the time being. “Halo Online is powered by a highly modified version of the Halo 3 engine and optimized for smooth performance on lower-end PCs. Halo fans should be familiar with Saber’s work, as the company worked on the single-player campaign aspects of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary on the Xbox 360 and Halo 2: Anniversary within Halo: The Master Chief Collection on the Xbox One.

We’re looking forward to getting feedback from gamers living in Russia when Halo Online enters closed beta later this spring via Innova’s 4game platform.” There will still be weapon pickups on maps, but will come with an indicator as to whether the weapon is better or worse than what players are carrying. It’s also a market with a high rate of piracy, which means that “games as a service” are more likely to succeed traditional retail or download games. That title took maps and features from Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops in competitive shooter modes, a Survival co-op mode, and a Cyborg Zombies mode (since regular zombies are not culturally appropriate in the country). Halo Online hasn’t been announced for any territories outside of Russia, much like Call of Duty Online, which has remained exclusive to China since its release.
