Instagram For Android Now Includes 3D Touch Feature

Android Users Can Now Use Instagram’s 3D Touch.

One of the most touted feature in the new iPhones is 3D Touch, originally introduced in Apple Watch and then improved for latest iPhones, which basically provides users with a different input method based on how hard they press the display. Earlier today some Android users of Instagram found that the app now includes nearly a direct port of the iOS app’s 3D Touch user interface, with two big differences: the new feature is only available in the app (you can’t do anything new with the home screen icon), and you have to long press to activate the feature, since Android phones don’t have pressure-sensitive screens — something unique to the newest iPhones. When you long press a thumbnail image (you’ll see this layout when searching or viewing someone’s profile) a almost full-size expansion of the photo will appear.

It’s nice to see Instagram realizing that the feature doesn’t exactly need a pressure-sensitive screen to be utilized, and porting over the feature shows that it must be popular on iOS. For an iOS user moving to another iOS device, there is iCloud and in case one is switching from an Android device to an iPhone, there is an Apple app to do the needful. It’s like your friend who pushes the Xbox controller buttons with 100 per cent strength to punch harder in the game, or leans right or left in real life while turning. Moreover, it was smart of Instagram’s developers to recognize that changes they’ve made to the iOS app had value outside of Apple’s new paradigm of pressure-sensitive screens. It used to be a pain to switch from one mobile platform to the other, but now it’s easier with Apple’s recently released Android app called “Move to iOS.” It’s all about one thing: getting you to switch to the iPhone.

The next time you switch to another Android Phone and the moment you login with the same Google account, your contacts will be restored automatically. iOS offers a number of options for backing up contacts. So if you run into any problems or are at a complete loss, remember that Apple offers free in-store help at its retail locations for transferring data to your new iPhone. If you want it to stay synced and include any new contacts you add, then you’ll also need to go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Contacts > Default Account and select your Google account.

To move contacts from your Windows Phone to Android, select sync contacts with Google in your Windows Phone contact book and the contacts will show on the Android phone. If you bought music through the Google Play Store, or you subscribe to the company’s monthly music service, you can continue to enjoy the tunes on your iPhone by downloading the free Google Play Music iOS app.
