Messaging Skype Beta for Windows 10 Mobile Now Available for Download.

It appears that the Redmond-based company was inspired by Google’s move, as the search giant allows Hangouts to be used as main messaging app in Android devices.The Skype Messaging app for Windows 10 Mobile is now available in beta form from the Windows Store, and includes a new UI for Skype which is very similar to the Messaging app already found on Windows 10 Mobile.

Phone number discoverability is an amazing feature of Skype that sets it apart from other instant messaging apps such as Viber, WhatsApp, WeChat and others. Well, it looks like today is the day that Windows Phone users can try out the new Skype application that is meant to take over the Messaging application in your smartphone.

Along with Messaging Skype Beta, your smartphone will also download a second application name Skype Video Preview, which is supposed to offer a more basic Skype experience allowing users to take advantage of features like direct call with video. The new app claims to add major features such as Skype call history, message history, video calling, messaging, Sign with Microsoft account and emoticons. The screenshots are oddly cropped, and the app is called “Messaging Skype” instead of “Skype Messaging.” And yet, the description uses the latter name: Skype Messaging, Calling and Video *Preview* is a new way to experience Skype features. It integrates individual Skype features where you’d expect them – Skype messaging into Messaging and Skype calling into Phone apps for the fastest way to make calls and send messages.

If you sign into Skype by using Microsoft account, the new feature will automatically connect to contacts from other address books such as Windows 8 and Microsoft office outlook.
