Photo leaks of Samsung Galaxy Note 5
An accessory maker has already posted photos of what could be Samsung’s next big Galaxy phones.
The Q2 results (PDF), released on Thursday, revealed total sales for the second quarter of 2015 of 48.54 trillion won ($41.7 billion) – up 3 percent from Q1’s 47.12 trillion won, but down by 7.3 percent from the 52.35 trillion won reported in the same period a year ago.We won’t really know anything about Samsung’s next big smartphones until August 13, which is when the company is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+.
Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge smartphone is a rather nice looking piece of tech and it is quite possible that Samsung may bring its cutting edge display technology to its range of smartwatches too, at some point in the future. But, case maker Spigen has already posted photos on its website showing renderings of each phone on its product pages, as blog Android Central first noticed. The company says shipments of the flagship Galaxy S6 line have increased since launch, and that it will maintain sales of the premium smartphones by “flexibly adjusting the price of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge”. The images look a lot like previous leaked photos of the phones we’ve seen in recent weeks — especially ones published by Evan Blass, who has a strong reputation for being accurate when it comes to product leaks. The watch concept features the same curved sides as Samsung’s smartphone design, and the increased display real estate may actually prove very useful.
Samsung has a number of other businesses where it could drive growth and more sales including the TV division, 14-nanometer semiconductor foundry, LCD panels, DRAM products, and IT & Mobile Communications (IM) division. The designers also envisioned the smartwatch with a simple clip mechanism on the back, allowing for a quick change of watch straps and the ability to pin the watch’s main body onto other items, such as a charger or onto your lapel, should you so desire. At the same time, booming memory chip sales have managed to mitigate a few of the slump elsewhere, thanks to tight supply and strong pricing. “There’s a possibility that the third-quarter sales price could slightly drop versus the second quarter“. It’s likely that Spigen just estimated what the new phones would look like based on previous leaks — manufacturers such as Samsung don’t usually share plans with accessory makers ahead of time.
Samsung has brought forward the launch date of its new smartphone and tablet models to 13 August in a bid to get a jump on rival Apple, which traditionally unveils new devices in September.
