Reminders are finally coming to Google Calendar

Google Calendar Gets Reminders.

Not only does Reminders help a person maintain one single integrated list but also gives the user to follow it up from any device where the Calendar is synced. Gmail has had a “to-do” feature for the longest time, but it was pretty useless, as it was a simple standalone, one-off feature that probably graduated from Labs at one point. This resulted in the feature sitting on Gmail without users taking full advantage of it. “Our calendars should help us make the most of our time — scheduling meetings at work, remembering brunch with friends, and keeping track of all our other commitments.

That means you can create a Reminder when you’re checking your email or just say “Ok Google, remind me to buy birthday candles,” and it will show up in Google Calendar. Reminders are also more powerful — they won’t stop bugging you till you actually mark them ‘Done’. “You might already create calendar entries to remind you to call the doctor or pick up groceries on the way home. Google acknowledged that many Google Calendar users already use events for this type of functionality, or they have a to-do list that is separate from their Google Calendar. Reminders can also be set up with the addresses or phone numbers, which make completing a particular task easier. “So if you add a Reminder to make a call or run an errand, the number or address will be right there when you need it,” writes Google.
