No Crossplay for Rocket League on Xbox One.

The popular video game of derby and soccer became an overnight sensation when it was launched on PC and PlayStation 4, leaving Xbox One players left out.

Polygon announced on their Twitter account a confirmation of what has already been rumored, saying, “Rocket League on Xbox won’t support cross-platform play”.Microsoft has announced that the Sky app is finally available for Xbox One in the UK, enabling users to once again be able to view Sky TV via their console, as per the app on Xbox 360. Much to the disappointment of Rocket League fans, developer Psyonix confirms that the upcoming Xbox One port for the sports game will not contain cross-platform play. Along with 16 battle cars, the Xbox One version of the game will feature the “HogSticker”, a version of Halo’s Warthog, and the “Armadillo” from Gears of War.

Sky customers will be reap plenty of viewing benefits from the app with over 1,000 movies on offer as well as box sets, live TV and, of course, plenty of sports for those with a subscription. News about this technical limitation is a bit disappointing especially since PlayStation 4 gamers of “Rocket League” can freely play with their PC counterparts through cross-platform play. Xbox One customers can now watch the latest from Sky TV with our big winter line up including The Last Panthers, Fungus The Bogeyman and Scandal – there’s something for everyone to enjoy.” Bundles for three of the game’s previously released DLCs, Supersonic Fury, Revenge of the Battle-Cars, and Chaos Run, will be available for $20, according to GameSpot. In August this year, Jeremy Dunham, the VP of marketing at Psyonix, confirmed that the studio was in the process of launching the game to other platforms.

Former Sony Computer Entertainment UK boss Fergal Gara said “Now TV has been a great addition to the PlayStation 3 entertainment portfolio, so bringing it to the new PS4 is going to delight all users of the newest, most powerful member of the PlayStation family”. “Rocket League” won awards at the second Game Awards, getting awards for Best Sports/Racing Game and Best Indie Game. GameRant, on the other hand, believes that the absence of cross-play on “Rocket League” may not be long as patches can be updated every now and then.
