IDT Teams with Samsung to Integrate Wireless Charging.

Verizon was the only carrier holding back Samsung Pay when it launched in the US last month, but now it finally appears to be rolling out the new payments system to supported phones.SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct 19, 2015 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Integrated Device Technology, Inc. ® (IDT®) IDTI, +0.17% today announced that IDT teamed with Samsung to deliver wireless charging for its Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note5 smartphones, wireless charger, and Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch charging pad. Android Central and Droid Life are reporting that Verizon customers with recent Galaxy phones are starting to receive updates adding support for Samsung’s payments app.

The highly flexible IDT technology includes all of the semiconductor hardware and associated software required to support mobile devices to be charged without a wired connection. It sounds as though the app isn’t actually available in the Play Store for Verizon customers just yet — so the rollout clearly isn’t finished — but people who have gone around the Play Store and installed the app anyway say that it’s working just fine.
