Apple acquired half of U.S mobile activation in Q4, demand still at high.

A new market share study released today paints a bullish picture for iPhone sales, saying that the Apple phone accounted for more than half of all phone activations in the fourth quarter of 2014.

According to a survey report of consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), one in every two mobile phones activation in US from October 1 to December 31 was iPhone that is 50% of the Smartphone users have activated their phone with iPhone whereas Samsung has won the second place by 26% and south Korean firm LG is in the third place with 11%.According to a Friday disclosure by industry sources, the 4.7-inch Phone 6 handset – which is one of Apple’s new-generation iPhone models – was the best-selling smartphone in Taiwan in December 2014.We heard yesterday that Apple was on the rise in South Korea, becoming the first foreign brand to break through the 20% market share barrier, much to the chagrin of Samsung.

The industry sources said that ever since the iPhone 6 and its bigger-screen 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus counterpart have hit the Taiwanese markets in late September 2014, both the devices have been witnessing overwhelming response from customers. And to be honest, “Strong” is putting it mildly, as the accompanying pie chart shows exactly 50% of US smartphones activated in the last quarter of 2014 being iPhones. Addition to this, this number of Apple is likely to be increased more as 56 percent of the consumers who have a plan to buy a Smartphone in the next 90 days are determined to have an iPhone. The biggest iPhone users with 55-65% were the states of Montana, Kansas, Mississippi and New York, with Alaska tipping the scales at a monstrous 65.5% – essentially two-thirds! Though this percentage came down from 71 percent but still they have been able to manage to be in the first position of demand level as the percentage of consumer planning to have a Samsung phone is 18%.
