Skype working to fix glitch preventing users from making calls

Skype calling knocked offline by major outage.

Skype, Microsoft’s online telephone and video service, has said it has identified the glitch that prevented some users from making calls, and is working to resolve the issue. Some users signed in to the Skype app have not been able to change their status and therefore all their contacts appear as offline, making it impossible to make phone calls.

Microsoft says the messaging side of Skype is still mostly working properly, though the company notes “a small number of messages to group chats are not being delivered.” If you’re not currently signed into Skype, you might have a tough time getting online while the problems persist. Users can also expect delays before changes to their Skype account (profile, calling balance, etc.) are reflected across the service. “We’re doing everything we can to fix this issue and hope to have another update for you soon.”
