Bethesda Says Factories can not Make Any More Pip-Boys.

If you’re panicking about whether or not your pre-order will be fulfilled, don’t – Hines has confirmed that all those already ordered will be honoured. In addition to Hines’ revelations regarding the game’s Boston setting, Bethesda also divulged fresh information about Fallout 4’s romance, perk, and companion details at QuakeCon.

The rapturous fan response came in two parts: one, wild excitement that Fallout 4 was finally confirmed and on its way, and two, euphoric delight that Fallout 4 would be here so soon. And in a recent interview during Quakecon, Bethesda’s Pete Hines explained that they decided would be set in Boston, Massachusetts before they’d even started working on Skyrim.

With Fallout 4 ’s release date set as November 10 , fans would have to wait less than half a year to get their paws on the highly-anticipated new Fallout game. As Hines explained to Gamespot: The ideas for Fallout 4 started right after Fallout 3 and have gotten worked on and been percolated since 2008… We’re talking about its infancy, we’re talking about jotting some stuff down, we’re talking about, ‘I want to do it in Massachusetts, and have it be about this, this, and this.’ In the interview, he also explained that the developers have been working on Fallout 4 full time since April 2013, when Bethesda announced they were finished with Skyrim. The package, which comes with a wearable pip-boy casing that you could use to hold your smartphone, has been removed from sale following the news that its manufacturer simply can’t make any more.

The Fallout 4 Pip-boy edition has been one of the highest demand collector’s editions for a video game we’ve ever seen, with most stores selling out of their stock in days and fans constantly hounding Bethesda to make more available. [The factories would tell us, ] this is what the yields say. Hines says that people may think they only did a few thousand of these editions, however, they have done more of these than any other collector’s edition ever before. “And you can also get the guys who go mad and [can say], ‘I rebuilt the spaceship from this game…” To be specific, Hines says, “The point at which it really kicked into development whenever it was when we put up the post that said, ‘Hey, we’re done with Skyrim and moving onto the next project.’ Once we were done with all of that, it was like, ‘Alright, now it’s Fallout 4 full-throttle.’”. There is no plan to open up manufacturing again, making this a truly limited edition item which will replicate the feel of having an actual Pip-Boy on your wrist by letting you mount your smartphone there.

Speaking to GameSpot, Hins said, “It’s not just, ‘Hey, here’s Breezehome [one of the houses in Skyrim],’ where we just picked a house, and you can buy it, and you can go to somebody and say, ‘Here’s this much gold, and put this thing into my house.’”. Which isn’t even all the full monty it’s just a big wide picture.” This month , Hines sounds even more confident about the progress of Fallout 4. Hines went on to say that he believes the company has made more of this special edition than it has of any other limited edition in its history, so suggestions it’s deliberately being kept rare is far of the mark. Intense fan interest in the upcoming title meant that Bethesda could hold onto its secret for longer, revealing Fallout 4 like a magician triumphantly presenting the rabbit it just pulled out of its hat. “If we didn’t feel like that was enough time to generate the excitement that we expected and the interest that we wanted, then we would have announced it earlier.

He added, “It’s way more fun as opposed to: here’s a press release and here’s a trailer and, I don’t know, in a couple of months we’ll show you some stuff.” It’s very much in line with Bethesda’s style, as shown by the simultaneous announcement and release of addictive mobile game Fallout Shelter.
