‘The Banner Saga’ Gets January Release Date For PS4 & Xbox One.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – After a year of waiting, ‘The Banner Saga’ is coming to consoles next month, as the porting was confirmed and no more delays are expected.Versus Evil’s The Banner Saga, the original epic role playing game that released on PC in early 2014, is finally making its way to the PS4 and Xbox One. It does not appear the PS Vita version will release on January 12, but publisher Versus Evil’s community director Lance James responded to a comment on the PS Blog inquiring about the PS Vita version. Apparently the developer had actually been working on the console version for long periods of time, with the unexpected difficulty leading to a longer than expected development process.

In the game, a player’s choice in travel, conversation and combat determines the outcome of their own personal story as well as the survival of an entire civilization. The game is worth playing for its story alone (which isn’t surprising considering there are former Bioware developers behind it) but it’s got so much more to offer besides. For those unaware, “The Banner Saga” isn’t about the Hulk from Marvel comics, but is about an epic Viking saga that has players rebuilding civilization and making new allies, along with new enemies.

The original score from Austin Wintory is wonderful and, something that will always draw me into a game, the 2D animation and art style is absolutely gorgeous. There was originally going to be a Vita version that was going to be released alongside the one coming for consoles, but that version has been postponed according to Game Informer. The development will be favorable with the upcoming sequel, ‘The Banner Saga 2′, which is also set to launch at some point in 2016 for the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. According to the studios, gamers will be able to import all their saved data, character, story choices, and the caravan from the first game to the second, once it releases.
