Ford Issues 3 Safety Recalls.

Ford Motor issued three safety recalls on Wednesday morning, the largest aimed at about 212,000 Ford Explorers and its law enforcement sibling, the Ford Police Interceptor utility vehicle.Law360, New York (March 25, 2015, 11:58 AM ET) — Ford Motor Co. announced three separate recalls Wednesday involving approximately 221,000 vehicles, including police cars, ambulances and some of the automaker’s Lincoln-brand hearses. At issue with the sport utility vehicles from model years 2011-13 are doors that can suddenly open during a side-impact crash, increasing the risk of injury, the company said.

The recall is for 212,911 vehicles built at Chicago Assembly Plant from Feb. 1, 2011 to Jan. 31, 2012; from June 1, 2012 to June 30, 2012; and from Oct. 1, 2012 to Nov. 30, 2012. • 2011 – 2013 F-series Super Duty ambulance vehicles and 2014 – 2015 ambulance and emergency vehicles. The company is also recalling about 6,500 ambulances that have defective exhaust gas temperature sensors, which Ford said can cause false alerts that the vehicle’s temperature is too high.
