Classic PlayStation 2 games ready to run on the PlayStation 4.

Sony’s enigmatic PlayStation 2 games that brought immense joy and excitement in the yesteryears will finally make its way into its present generation gaming console.

When exactly Sony is planning to announce Dark Cloud for the PlayStation 4 isn’t clear, but the leak may mean a major backwards compatibility reveal at the PlayStation Experience on Saturday. But although many have begun to assume Sony is on the cusp of announcing backwards compatibility with the PlayStation 2, and possibly 3, the small print for Dark Cloud suggests otherwise. Owners of PS4 will be able to download and enjoy PS2 games through the PlayStation Store in the North America, South America and Europe, Sony announced on its press release on Friday. The Japanese consumer electronics firm flaunted its PS2 games such as Rogue Galaxy and Dark Cloud in full throttle in high-def on a PS4 in a video uploaded to its YouTube page. Additional enhanced features include Shareplay (Active PS Plus membership may be required), Remote Play, Activity Feeds, and Second Screen support for game manuals through the PS Vita system or PlayStation App,” read the description, as reported by Gematsu. “Copyright 2011 Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.

The screenshot was taken from a YouTube video by Twitter user BradazKing, that Sony mistakenly put up early, and confirms other features of PlayStation 2 backwards compatibility, namely 1080p resolution upscaling, and support for Trophies, Remote Play, Share Play, and displaying the game manual on a second screen. Also a month ago, Sony stated that it has sold over 30.2 million PlayStation 4 video game consoles all across the globe ever since the gaming console went on sale in November, 2014, outperforming host of other present-generation gaming consoles such as Xbox One and Nintendo’s Wii U.
