Similar to Inbox app, Yahoo wants to manage your Gmail account too.

Yahoo has added a new feature to its Mail app that allows you to integrate your entire Gmail account into the webmail service — even enabling you to search and find attachments. The Yahoo Mail team announced that you can now manage your Gmail from the friendly confines of Yahoo Mail, to go along with previous support for Outlook, Hotmail and AOL Mail (you know, the other email services that nobody uses unless it’s for Craigslist purposes): When we launched the redesigned Yahoo Mail app in October, users called it “slick,” “speedy” and “elegant.” The app now has a four-star rating in both the Apple App Store and Google Play.

(Mirror Daily, United States) – Fans of Yahoo will sort through their e-mail accounts a little easier now, as Yahoo Mail makes nice with Gmail and adds Google’s service to their mailbox. One feature that got very popular is the ability of Inbox app to sync your inbox messages irrespective of the platform you are on meaning it can sync messages even from Yahoo or Outlook even though it is Google owned app. Shiv Shankar, Senior Product Manager at Yahoo said: “Search, smart contacts, rich compose [multimedia attachments to mail] features and Yahoo Account Key for password-free sign-in are now available with Gmail.

The company hopes that with this addition, it can draw more users to its email service so that they can experience Yahoo’s search capabilities within Mail and discover that it just works. Ranging from Gmail to Yahoo Mail, Hotmail, AOL, or Outlook.com. it’s highly possible that there’s a need for just one successful app to gather them all together.

But instead of just being a place for you to communicate with your family, friends, coworkers, and partners, Yahoo Mail wants to be perceived as being a universal database containing user information — your place to keep track of gifts you’re giving, people you care about, trips you’re taking, and more. In addition to email content, Yahoo Mail provides you the ability to use all its native features such as smart contacts and a unified search support on your Gmail account. That’s something Yahoo’s senior vice president of communications products Jeff Bonforte said he’s unapologetic about. “It’s the only database universally owned by the user,” he told VentureBeat.

In a nutshell, with IMAP support, if you want to consolidate your emails across various addresses, Yahoo can be the central repository of your photos, joke threads, ecommerce receipts, emails, and more. It believes that it can offer consumers a better experience in looking at all your emails in an organized way, including not just the actual message, but referencing attachments and contacts that the system intelligently knows you need to include.
