ZTE Announces Z9 Max Flagship & Z9 Mini Mid-Range Smartphones.

Not to be outdone by the iPhone 6 Plus, Chinese vendor ZTE has come out with its own high-end phablet, the Nubia Z9 Max—an aluminum smartphone with a feature-packed camera. ZTE have been coming up with some very reasonably priced devices, and there have been plenty of people waiting for the new ZTE Nubia Z9 smartphones to be made official.Earlier today at a press conference in Beijing, ZTE unveiled two new handsets, Nubia Z9 Max and Nubia Z9 Mini, offering users with an excellent set of specifications and an affordable price tag. The Android phone, unveiled Thursday, is slated to come to China first, but the company plans to bring it to North America, Europe and emerging markets later. As the names suggest, we’re looking at a flagship smartphone and a less potent version, with the two phones sized at 5.5-inch and 5-inch respectively.

Both smartphones are fairly similar in that they use the same design language across the board, but each model stands apart in its own way, both inside and out. The display has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels (Full HD), and the phone also comes with 16GB of expandable internal storage, LTE connectivity, and a 2,900 mAh battery.

The phone delivers what you would expect from premium handsets, some of which already feature metal frames, the latest Qualcomm chipsets, and 1080p displays. While the display may not be as pixel dense as some of the other 2015 flagship smartphones such as the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro, but the 1080p resolution should is still impressive enough and it is quite difficult for most people to differentiate the sharpness between a 1080p and a Quad HD resolution display. Thankfully, ZTE has included a microSD card slot in the smartphone, so you will be able to expand the storage in future with the help of a microSD card.

Z9 Max specs include a Snapdragon 810 processor, a 5.5-inch Full HD display, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage that’s expandable via microSD to 128GB. ZTE hasn’t offered word on whether the two devices will make their way outside China, though judging by previous Nubia handsets, there’s a very small chance of that happening. Nice features on the Z9 Max that you may not find on other flagship phones include slots for two SIM cards, and an SD card space for up to 128 GB in storage.

It boasts a titanium frame like the Max but also has interchangeable back covers that come in numerous flavors, textures, patterns and materials, ranging from denim to wood. In addition to the standard photo shooting app, which captures good, detailed images, the phone has camera software for different scenarios, including for taking artistic pictures of the night sky and for snapping wide-angle shots of scenery. Unfortunately we have no word on price and availability yet, but hopefully ZTE will release the new duo across the pond and into the Western hemisphere sooner rather than later. It gets the 4K Video recording feature from the main flagship as well, making it one of the rare few mid-range smartphones to offer Ultra HD video recording.
